What's the history behind this soothing Essential Oil and how is it extracted?

Lemon trees are native to Asia and were used by ancient Indians, Egyptians and Romans to treat infectious diseases. Ayurvedic medicine has been incorporating both the fruit and the Essential Oil for thousands of years to treat a vast range of health issues. It is believed the trees were brought to Europe in the Middle Ages and were later introduced to North Africa and eventually America via one of Christopher Columbus famous voyages.

Today Lemon Essential Oil is used in aromatherapy, culinary practices, perfumery, massage and cleaning products.

Lemon Oil is cold-pressed from fresh lemon fruit peels. Around 3000 lemon rinds are needed to produce 1kg of Lemon Oil. That's a lot of lemons!
